Richard Abbey leads EY’s forensic and integrity services practice for the UK and Ireland service line, using his more than 25 years of experience to deal with complex financial investigations across a wide variety of sectors. 

Abbey’s particular focus is helping HNW individuals investigate and manage potential reputational issues. He explains: ‘I often first meet clients just as a crisis is kicking in. For many, it will be the first time something like this has ever happened to them and will likely be the most important thing in their life at that time.’ Additionally, Abbey also helps such HNWs provide transparency around their sources of wealth and he is involved in asset tracing and evidencing how they made their wealth, a necessary step increasingly required as HNW clients come under scrutiny by banks and other institutions.

Abbey began his career at EY before joining Kroll, where he co-founded a special financial investigations practice. He then rejoined EY in 2015 and has been there since.
