Andrew Terry is a partner at Harbottle & Lewis who combines intellectual property knowledge with a practice working on reputation law to great effect for his clients, who are drawn largely from the high end of media and entertainment.

Previously head of media and intellectual property at Eversheds Sutherland, Terry moved to Harbottle as his focus on individual clients increased. Speaking about the crossover between IP law and reputation and the rights individuals hold to their images, he said: ‘The two go very much hand in hand on the privacy side of things. My wider experience then brings into play other tools that perhaps other people wouldn't be using.’

Maintaining his clients’ privacy often means avoiding the courts where other avenues are available. He said: ‘It's all about using those litigation and legal tools, but well short of litigation because that doesn't really suit everyone.’
