Jones Nickolds

A THRIVING PRACTICE specialising in family law, Jones Nickolds cover all the legal aspects of family relationships, including divorce, financial remedy and private children work.

They are the largest family law team in the South East, numbering 16 solicitors – a well-structured, high calibre team with strength at all levels. All five partners are experienced and have worked at the firm for many years, and they have two associate solicitors and nine assistant solicitors. All of their staff previously practised at top-ranked London or regional practices. They recruit well and then invest the time to train and develop their staff.

They offer a breadth of experience in all aspects of family law, and have worked hard to consolidate their reputation. They have an ever-growing number of high value cases, including in the High Court and the Court of Appeal. They primarily deal with mid-high net worth divorces, but also undertake a significant amount of complex private children work. They are distinct from other regional practices in providing a partner-led service on all cases, supported by a team of junior solicitors.

They are skilled and experienced at highly-contested litigation. However, they also have a specialism in alternative dispute resolution. Rachel Woodd and Claire Nickolds are qualified and highly experienced mediators. They frequently use non-court based methods – all of the firm’s partners have arbitration experience, and regularly arrange private FDRs.

They aim always to ensure that their clients have a positive working relationship with the fee-earners who deal with their matters. The majority of their work stems from referrals from former clients.

They have also worked hard to consolidate their reputation with their peers and professional referrers. They attract a substantial number of the sought-after city referrals.

The firm upgraded all its IT systems in recent years, which meant that the sudden move to home-working brought about by the pandemic in March did not interrupt their work. They were able to carry on as normal throughout.
