Cripps property lawyer Sally Firby is described as ‘at the top end of the residential rural market’ by industry commentators, and is highly regarded for advising clients on the purchase and sale of high-value country homes, farms and estates.

When Spear's catches up with Firby, she reports that clients are exercising a degree of caution in 2024 as the UK general election approaches. 'If you own a country house, you're going to be more cautious of a Labour government than you would a Conservative,' she says. 

Firby’s client-base is wide, taking in overseas investors, celebrities and substantial land owners. The last of these categories includes Domaine Evremond, a joint venture established by Champagne Taittinger to develop a vineyard in Kent, marking the first time that a bona fide Champagne house has invested in the UK.
