Canaccord Genuity divisional director Paul Derrien began his career at NatWest in 1994 and has built a considerable body of work managing direct equity-based and multi-manager portfolios for private individuals, trusts, pensions, charities and institutional clients.

He tells Spear’s that the business has been growing: Derrien is personally responsible for four teams of 10 investment managers and planners, totalling over £5.5 billion in AuM. 

The firm has been strengthening its grip on the market thanks to a string of acquisitions, but that hasn’t changed its grounded approach to clients, Derrien says. This is in part thanks to a collegiate feel that creates a friendly, collaborative and open environment at the firm.
