Martin Waller

Spear’s Review

The travel-inspired design house Andrew Martin, founded in 1978 by Martin Waller, has been at the forefront of some of the world’s most ‘kaleidoscopic’ designs.

The studio has transformed the interiors of many brands, including Marriott Hotels, Jumeirah Group and Mandarin Oriental, as well as office spaces, private homes and developments.

Waller weaves cultural influences into his projects, often for fellow globetrotters like himself. One formative inspiration is the house of Jim Thompson, the American businessman, architect and collector of south-east Asian art, which he visited over 45 years ago in Bangkok. The other is Stephen Falcke, the South African designer known for his eclecticism and for redefining the African aesthetic.
