Richard Saunders joined Butterfield Bank in Guernsey in 2000; 25 years later he serves as a managing director for its UK, Channel Islands and Jersey operations. 

He leads the bank’s wealth management offering and European asset management business, managing teams in Guernsey and London and overseeing discretionary management for private client portfolios. Under his leadership, the bank has launched an undergraduate scholarship for students from Guernsey and Jersey with an interest in financial services. 

Saunders joined Butterfield from RBC, where he began his career in 1993, and spent seven years managing private client portfolios.

He is a chartered member of the Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment.
