Edward Venmore joined Birketts’ Bristol office in 2026 to lead the growth of its agricultural practice in the west of England – a ‘natural next step’ for the firm, Venmore said on his appointment.

Prior to joining Birketts, Venmore headed up the farms, estates and rural land team at Foot Antsey. His areas of expertise include commercial litigation, property disputes and professional negligence claims, as well as succession planning and land diversification and natural capital.

‘I strongly believe you need a broad range of advisers to help you do something properly and in a truly coherent way,’ says Venmore, explaining that, alongside legal advice, clients should seek insight from accountants and tax advisers and land agents to ensure that they have the full picture of their farms, estates and family businesses.

‘My perspective of disputes law means that having seen where it goes wrong, I can advise on how people can stand a better chance of getting it right.’
