Whether representing pop stars such as Madonna – a case which propelled the 4 Paper Buildings barrister’s name into the headlines – or privacy-conscious financiers, international children law specialist Jacqueline Renton tells Spear’s her aim is always to enable her client to appreciate the bigger picture, and to ensure they are given realistic expectations right from the beginning of the case.

Renton has appeared in a number of important decisions related to children’s law – whether that be international child abduction (Hague and non-Hague), jurisdictional disputes, forced marriage or international contact disputes. In H v R & Anor [2022], for example, she represented the respondent in a significant case on jurisdiction and abduction post-Brexit.
