‘Every day there’s variety,’ says Hall Brown partner Izzy Walsh, a family law specialist who is joint head of the firm’s London office.

Walsh represents clients in complex divorce proceedings, as well as advising on cross-jurisdictional pre- and postnuptial agreements. Other important aspects of her work include financial provision arising from unmarried relationships and international children matters. 

‘It’s not always about money,’ she explains. ‘It’s just so important to understand each client’s individual drive, and their personal priorities. That’s what renders it such an interesting and challenging area of work.’ 

Her equestrian background means she is also often involved in cases with an equine element, and Walsh has found herself working with elite equestrian sportspeople over the years. ‘[Horses] are the most unusual assets in the world,’ she says. ‘One day they might be worth hundreds of thousands, if not millions, of pounds, and the next day even a relatively minor injury could eclipse that value.’
