A former UNICEF Child Rights Lawyer of the Year, Goodman Ray co-founder Peggy Ray has picked up a slew of awards throughout a career dedicated to helping families and children through some of the most difficult times. Despite the plaudits, she said her relationship with her client always comes first, and emphasised the imperative for efficient, empathetic and professional service in every situation.

Given the emotive nature of the cases she deals with, Ray’s cool, rational approach is an asset. ‘I am straightforward in providing my analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the evidence available, the costs of taking various steps and the longer-term implications in terms of ongoing relationships with family members,’ she tells Spear’s. 

Ray’s specialty is adoption and complex care cases, though she heads up a firm that has a breadth of expertise across the challenging landscape of child law and which deals with cases involving surrogacy, fertility, separation, divorce, protection and domestic abuse, across multiple jurisdictions.
