Trudi Featherstone, a partner at Goodman Ray since 2000, leads the firm’s divorce and matrimonial finance team, specialising in the financial aspects of divorce and separation for clients in the UK and across jurisdictions.

Featherstone also has extensive experience of working with clients to resolve issues relating to their children. These can range from where the children will live and with whom, to working out when and how the other parent will see them. 

The work might be challenging and complex, but the way in which Featherstone frames her role is the opposite. She is there ‘to provide clear and easily understandable advice’, she said. That means working hands-on with the client to demystify the process and find a strategic way forward.

It is crucial, she added, ‘to always explore dispute resolution as an option, to ensure the client leaves the first meeting feeling better supported and that they have a pathway to follow to exit the relationship – and also that they have a lawyer who is on their side and is mindful of their aims’.
