Over his 25-year career, he has developed a particular niche in cases involving surrogacy arrangements, parental rights and reproductive issues. ‘I focus on helping intended parents secure a proper legal relationship with their child,’ he explains. ‘The surrogacy arrangement will often be overseas, so it involves sourcing and pulling in advice and representation in other jurisdictions, as well as quite complex issues around immigration and nationality.

‘Our assisted reproduction work is going from strength to strength,’ Gilmour adds. ‘It remains a niche, but it is growing significantly.’
