Doris Sommavilla’s practice at Corient (formerly Stonehage Fleming) sits at the intersection of two of the most consequential moments in a wealthy family’s life: relocation and structural transformation.

A specialist in cross-border moves, she is based in Zurich but has made Italy her signature jurisdiction, noting that the destination is increasingly sought by HNWs, in particular those shifting from the Middle East and London. ‘Since 2021, I’ve had 25 families relocate to Italy successfully,’ she tells Spear’s. In support of these clients, Sommavilla oversees everything from asset restructuring and trust coordination to immigration, real estate and cost benchmarking.

Her second area of focus is family office architecture – helping families determine whether a single or multi-family office suits their needs, and guiding them through what to retain in house or outsource. She frequently advises billionaires and is characteristically direct about her ambitions: ‘I want to be their outsourced family officer.’
