Romesh Angunawela is a founding partner and director at leading eye clinic OCL Vision. 

Angunawela specialises in treatments concerning the front of the eye, including laser eye surgery, lens replacement surgery, corneal transplants, cataract surgery and dry eye disease. He is also a consultant eye surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital, where he serves as the director for corneal training. 

Patients particularly value Angunawela’s empathetic and understanding approach. ‘If you can work out what it is that the patient wants first (before surgery) and their expectations, and whether those things are realistic, it’s easier to deliver an outcome which makes them happy,’ he tells Spear’s. 

OCL uses state-of-the-art lenses to give patients ‘freedom’ from glasses, and they have also been responsible for performing new surgeries, such as EndoArt surgery, which is a corneal transplant that includes an artificial cornea, instead of using a donor cornea.
