Nicholas Bortman is the co-founder of Raedas, a firm that specialises in litigation and arbitration support, internal investigations, asset recovery and crisis advice.

Bortman himself deals primarily with contentious cases, and he is responsible for gathering evidence from a variety of sources on behalf of his clients, who range from sovereign states to business leaders and HNW individuals and their families. ‘What we’re really doing most of the time is gathering information and evidence that our clients can use either in legal proceedings, regulatory disputes or PR campaigns,’ he tells Spear’s.

Bortman emphasises how his team takes time to not just gather information, but to work with clients to tactfully deploy intelligence for maximum impact. ‘In a legal context, there are lots of issues around how and where information is deployed,’ he says. ‘If an investigator knows and is familiar with these issues, then we can be much more effective.’
