Qualified English solicitor and STEP member Ian Rumens is a Jersey-based executive director within the private client team at Ocorian.

He works closely with UHNW families, family offices and private clients, focusing on deploying their capital, including into non-traditional structures such as protected cell companies. The scale of his clients’ wealth means they often operate similarly to multinational companies, and Rumens is set the task of understanding their strategic objectives and working with their CIOs to establish onshore and offshore investment platforms.

With support from the firm’s other in-house experts, he offers advice that goes beyond traditional trust services, including setting up FCA-regulated companies and conducting security audits.

For Rumens, client confidence is key to strong professional relationships. ‘It’s about one word: trust,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘I spend quality time with clients; for those in the Middle East, I will go visit them during Ramadan and have a proper catch-up meeting with no agenda.’
