Maggie Gonzalez has more than a quarter-century of experience in the international private client arena, including nearly a decade at Buzzacott. 

Gonzalez attracts a client base of trustees and non-UK domiciled clients, some of whom have been with her from the start of her career. ‘We create that personal relationship with individuals, whether it’s the beneficiaries or settlor, or whether it’s the individuals who are working within the trust company, so that they know they can just pick up the phone to us and ask the questions they need to ask,’ she tells Spear’s. 

She advises on the taxation of offshore trusts, as well as each client’s personal tax liabilities, including inheritance tax, income tax and capital gains tax. Gonzalez is also experienced in providing advice to do with joint UK/ US tax commitments. ‘[Clients] like the fact that I’m able to look at the situation and advise them, and explain it to them so that they can come away with an understanding of what’s happening and what the issues will be,’ she says.
