A lot of it concerns cases with international elements, either assets overseas, or where there are disputes about whether England is the correct jurisdiction, or whether a foreign marriage is recognised in England. There are often complications around tax.’

‘I’ve been very lucky in coming to the bar in 2007. I came from a commercial arbitration background, but when I started my pupillage I realised that there’s no better, more exciting and boundary-pushing area of law than family. My first pupil master was a financial remedy specialist, and I was hooked from day one.’
