Spear’s Review

Founded around the core values of curiosity, confidence and kindness, Brighton College (Singapore) is a leading provider of the UK curriculum in south-east Asia.

A relatively new school – it was established in 2020 – Brighton College (Singapore) initially operated as a prep school, and has since expanded to teach children up to Year 10. It is launching a Sixth Form in August 2026, offering a two-year A-Level programme.

It carries the traditions of its British namesake, all while remaining forward-thinking in its pedagogical approach. Recent additions to the curriculum include a presentation skills course, which teaches Year 9 students to make impactful public speeches, and lessons on artificial intelligence to prepare pupils for an increasingly technological future.

Outside of academics, students are encouraged to pursue a plethora of extracurricular activities, ranging from drama and dance to the Brighton College International Schools Games, where pupils from the school’s wide network travel to Thailand to compete against each other in a sporting competition.

Academics

The eldest students at Brighton College (Singapore) are in Year 10, working on their first year of (I)GCSEs. They will sit their exams at the end of the 2026/27 academic year.

Head teacher

Nick Davies joined Brighton College Singapore in 2024, having previously worked at Stamford School and Hampton School in the UK. Aside from education, Davies was an officer in the Army Reserve from 2009 to 2019.

Admissions

To apply for Brighton College (Singapore), parents should first submit an application form with supporting documents. For nursery-aged pupils, a meeting with the academic team will be organised, and for applicants entering Years 2 to 6, an additional Cognitive Ability Test and interview are required. For entry into Year 7 and above, prospective students will have an interview with either the head or deputy head of school. Following these stages, admissions applications are reviewed, taking into account the interviews, as well as previous school reports.
