Spear’s Review

Only 16km from the centre of Athens, Campion School has state-of-the art facilities that include a football pitch, a running track, tennis and basketball courts, IT labs and libraries for pre-prep, junior and senior school pupils.

The school was founded in 1970 by Elizabeth and Thomas Shortell, American philhellenes who sought to create a school based in Athens that would enable youth to have access to quality education that would adequately prepare them for top-class universities in Europe and North America

Today, the school offers a blended curriculum, following both British and international standards, as well as Greek.

Academics

In 2025, Campion School recorded a 100 per cent pass rate for the IB, and 53 per cent of students achieved 35 points or more.

Head teacher

Judi Korakaki has served as the interim head teacher of the school since May 2025, after five years at the head of the junior school. Korakaki has been involved with the school since 2006, when she started as a maths teacher.

University and college destinations

In recent years, Campion students have gone on to study at UK universities such as Oxford, Imperial, Royal Holloway, the University of Glasgow and Warwick, as well as colleges in North America, including MIT, the University of Chicago and Brown University. Graduates also continue their education in universities across Europe.

Admissions

Campion requires applicants to submit an application form along with a copy of recent school reports. For entry into the early years and junior schools, students are invited to an interview with the head of school. For those applying to the senior school, admission includes sitting an English exam (if their native language is not English), and a mathematics, vocabulary and non-verbal abilities exam. Students can be admitted at any point in the school year – depending upon availability of spaces – though priority is given to international families.
