Spear’s Review

Inspected by the British Schools Overseas programme and rated ‘outstanding’ in every category, Kellett School delivers a UK curriculum to the English-speaking community in Hong Kong and nearby parts of Asia.

The school operates across two locations: the Pok Fu Lam campus houses a preparatory school at the foot of Mount Kellett, overlooking Kellett Bay, while the Kowloon Bay campus comprises a prep and senior school.

Kellett is strongly focused on business and the liberal arts, and every student is offered the chance to take part in charity work as an extracurricular activity, as well as overseas trips with service as the theme. Kellett is a member of HMC, an association of the world’s top independent schools.

Academics

85 per cent of (I)GCSE results are grades 7–9.

60 per cent of results at A-Level are A* or A.

University and college destinations

Graduates of the class of 2024 were headed to universities around the world, including the University of Cambridge, UCL, King’s College London, Brown, Cornell, Berkeley and McGill.

Head teacher

Paul Tough is the principal and CEO at Kellett. He joined in 2024 after holding similar positions at the British School in Tokyo and Discovery Bay International School in Hong Kong. He holds degrees from Swansea and Cardiff Universities.

Admissions

According to the school, Kellett accepts applications from birth for prep school, and two years in advance for the senior school. There is no deadline for applications, but families are encouraged to apply early due to high demand. The application process includes submitting academic reports, attending a school tour or open evening, and sitting assessments and interviews, which vary according to age.
