Spear’s Review

Marlborough College Malaysia is a co-educational British boarding school located in Iskandar Puteri. The 90-acre campus, 15 minutes from the Singapore border, draws architectural inspiration from its sister school in the UK. It allows space not only for sports pitches, a 50m pool and a full athletics track, but also a school farm.

Intellectual rigour and breadth of experience are key pillars, along with the extracurricular activities, which the extended day of the boarding school allows. Those include a broad range of creative, active and service-based activities, ranging from lake water sports to orphanage visits and movie nights.

The school teaches the UK curriculum up to (I)GCSE and then follows the IB programme for a student’s final two years

Academics

In 2025:

  • 61 per cent of (I)GCSE results were grades 7-9
  • Average IB score was 35.2

School Profile

Established in 2012, Marlborough College Malaysia (MCM) is a leading co-educational boarding and day school for pupils aged 3 to 18 years. Situated on a sprawling 90-acre campus in Iskandar Puteri, MCM is a not-for-profit institution that reinvests all resources back into the school to ensure a purposeful educational experience. The college was named International School of the Year by Tes (the Times Educational Supplement) and the BSA (Boarding Schools’ Association) in 2024 and 2025 respectively.

The college’s extensive grounds are central to its identity, featuring a lake, outdoor classroom and a farm, alongside an Olympic-size swimming pool, climbing wall and dedicated tennis and netball courts. With professional cricket, rugby and football pitches, the campus allows pupils to balance a rigorous British curriculum, including IGCSEs and the IB diploma, with extensive sporting and outdoor opportunities. Within this vibrant community, a commitment to holistic growth ensures that Marlburians graduate as confident, versatile individuals.

As the Good Schools Guide notes:

‘While the brand name, vast grounds and facilities speak for themselves, make no mistake that it’s the school’s ethos, community spirit and well-rounded education that make it special, and one not to be missed.’
