Spear’s Review

Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) follows the UK curriculum. Many of its applicants secure places at G5 universities, while Ivy Leagues and top local universities are also popular destinations. The curriculum is delivered in English, with Chinese as a compulsory GCSE. A variety of clubs also ensure that academic skills are productively deployed outside the classroom.

SCIE is committed to helping all of its students ‘develop social responsibility, creativity, independence and enthusiasm’. It is often recognised as the most successful international high school in Asia.

In 2022, the school established its Arts Academy to provide a more extensive range of extracurricular courses, including music, design and drama.

Academics

Over 80 per cent of GCSE results are grades 7–9.

Approximately 66 per cent of A-Level results are A* or A.

University and college destinations

Since 2005, students at SCIE have received 382 offers from Oxbridge universities.

Head teacher

Neil Mobsby has served as the school’s principal since 2018, after joining in 2009 in the mathematics department. He has over 25 years of experience in schools across the Middle East, China, Africa and the UK.

Admissions

SCIE is an academically selective school. All applicants are subject to English and mathematics admissions exams as well as an interview.
