Spear’s Review

Located between Nice and Cannes, Mougins is a British international school that benefits from the natural beauty of the French Riviera as well as its location within the Sophia Antipolis technology park, the ‘Silicon Valley’ of the south of France.

A large part of the student experience at Mougins involves activities in the outdoors forest space around the school – nature is incorporated into both lessons and physical activities. The school has also developed its own ‘thrive programme’, in which students take courses to develop themselves as individuals, thinkers, creatives and members of the community.

Mougins closely follows the UK curriculum, and students – from more than 40 nationalities – culminate their education with IGCSE and A-Level examinations before moving on to top universities around the world.

Academics

In 2025:

  • 32 per cent of IGCSE results were grades 7-9
  • 32 per cent of A-Level results were A* or A

Head teacher

James Wellings was appointed head of school at Mougins in 2021 after a tenure at the International School of Monaco as head of secondary and deputy director. He holds a bachelor’s degree in politics from Nottingham Trent University and a PGCE from the University of Warwick.

University and college destinations

Mougins graduates have matriculated at some of the world’s top universities, including, in 2025, Amsterdam University College, Imperial College London, Oxford University, St Andrews and the University of Pennsylvania.

Admissions

Mougins operates a rolling admissions policy, with applications are accepted throughout the year. Places at the school places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
