Spear’s Review
St Louis School has three campuses spread across the city of Milan and is home to around 1,700 total pupils aged 2 to 18 who are all encouraged to fulfil their potential.
Founded in 1996, the school offers a blended curriculum, combining all of the best parts of the UK standard curriculum with the well-respected Italian curriculum, creating a ‘child-centred’ and ‘holistic’ approach to learning and development. Currently an independent day and boarding school, the boarding option will be removed from the 2025/26 school year.
Outside of the classroom, students can enjoy a range of sports, clubs and activities across the three campuses, with some activities held off-campus. Music plays a large part of school life, and tuition in a selection of instruments is available to students. Music is regulated by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music, one of the largest and best-respected boards in the world, and exams are held at the school each year.
Academics
Average IB score is 36.0.
University and college destinations
Students go on to study at top universities globally, including Russell Group universities and Ivy League schools in the US. According to the school, 90 per cent of students gain admission to their first-choice universities.
Head teacher
Kathy Crewe-Read joined St Louis School as executive principal in 2024, also acting as head of the Archinto campus. She works alongside Tor Del Federico and Kathleen Slocombe as principals of Caviglia and Colonna campuses respectively. Prior to joining St Louis, Crewe-Read led Bishop’s Stortford College for four years and brings with her a wealth of experience in teaching at top schools across England.
Admissions
The admissions process includes registering interest and attending a campus tour. In addition to this, applicants must provide school reports and any other documents as required. Admission also includes an assessment, which each child entering from Year 1 upwards must take. Applicants are usually informed of the outcome of the assessment within five working days.
