Spear’s Review

With its roots stretching back to 1868, Lahore’s Aitchison College is one of Pakistan’s finest educational institutions. Its alumni include the former prime minister and sportsman Imran Khan, who played cricket at the school as a young boy.

Spread over a 200-acre campus, the school’s grounds include three riding fields, where students can practice show jumping and arena polo, as well as 18 tennis courts, nine cricket grounds and a diving centre.

Priding itself on its history as an educator of ‘princely elites’, the Aitchison College of today provides a vibrant and broad international curriculum. It has been a Cambridge school since 1935, and students work towards IGCSE and A-Level exams. It also has its own SAT centre that is affiliated with the American College Board.

Head teacher

Dr S.M Turab Hussain became the principal of Aitchison College in 2024. Hussain is an associate professor of economics and a former Old Boy of Aitchison College, where he boarded for eight years.

University and college destinations

Aitchison boys regularly gain admission to Oxbridge and Russell Group universities as well as Ivy League schools and other prestigious institutions.

Admissions

According to the school, Aitchison College admits boys on the basis of academic and general suitability. The application process must be completed before a boy is considered an eligible candidate. Applications may only be made for one of the two enrolment categories (boarding or day) and not both.
