Spear’s Review

Deeply rooted in Swiss heritage and tradition, Collège Champittet was founded more than 120 years ago. The school offers a diverse curriculum: preschoolers and primary students follow a blend of the Swiss, French and British curricula, and are taught in French and English. Students in the secondary school work towards the English-language-based IB, the francophone French Baccalauréat or the bilingual Swiss Maturité.

Located in Lausanne on the shore of Lake Geneva, the school is ideally located for sailing and skiing; it also offers outdoor learning for younger pupils via its Forest School. An extensive extra-curricular programme includes sports, the arts, science and technology, while further enrichment can be gained via Collège Champittet’s partnerships with leading organisations and universities, such as the Juilliard School, MIT and UNICEF.

Academics

In 2025, the average IB score was 32.5. The school reports a 100 per cent pass rate in the French Baccalauréat and Swiss Maturité.

Head teacher

A student at Collège Champittet from 1976 to 1982, Philippe de Korodi returned in 2015 as head of the school. He holds a master’s degree in law from the University of Lausanne and a postgraduate diploma in international relations from the London School of Economics and Political Science. In 2021, he obtained a certificate in educational management and leadership from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

University and college destinations

Students go on to matriculate at some of the world's top universities. In recent years, destinations have included McGill University, the University of Oxford and Stanford University.

Admissions

Applicants are required to complete an online application form and provide documentation. For primary students, this includes two years of school reports and a photocopy of the child’s passport or identification card. For students joining in secondary, they need to send the mentioned documents plus a recommendation form. These students also will take tests in mathematics and languages (French and/or English) created by Champittet teachers. For boarding students, an interview is required.
