Spear’s Review

Lambrook has long been recognised for the strength of its academics as well as its sense of community.

Situated on a beautiful 52-acre Berkshire estate, the school offers best-in-class teaching facilities, a nine-hole golf course, a cricket pitch and a performing arts centre, as well as a working farm. While the academic curriculum offers much stimulation, a broad co-curricular programme allows students to indulge their interests and partake in activities such as beekeeping, piano, scuba diving or debate.

As part of the ‘family’ feel, boarding for older students remains a large part of school life, with many engaging with boarding at different times in their school journey, either on a one-off basis or weekly.

Head teacher

Jonathan Perry has been headmaster at Lambrook since 2010, having previously headed up Kingsmead School in Cheshire. He is a graduate of the University of Cambridge, where he gained a postgraduate certificate in education, and the University of Gloucestershire, where he achieved a BA in theology and history.

Senior school destinations

Pupils go on to some of the top senior schools in the country, including CharterhouseEtonHarrowMarlborough College and Wycombe Abbey.

Admissions

According to the school, pupils can start at Lambrook at any stage, depending on availability of places. Usual points of entry are at nursery, reception, Year 3, Year 4 and Year 7; however, places are offered as available following an assessment. Parents and children are more than welcome to visit the school during the application process and are able to have a tour with the school registrar and attend an appointment with the headmaster. The application process includes submitting an application form and undertaking an assessment that differs depending on the year of entry: those children entering at pre-prep level into Year 2 attend either an assessment morning or an observational group setting; from Year 3 upwards, children are invited to a formal assessment day.
