Spear’s Review

The International School of Geneva (Ecole Internationale de Genève, or Ecolint) is a co-educational school for pupils aged 3-18 with three campuses: Campus des Nations, La Châtaigneraie and La Grande Boissière. Built upon international, humanitarian and academically rigorous values, students of Ecolint receive a holistic education.

Ecolint was the world’s first international school and has a relatively large student body. Students come from over 143 different countries and are attracted by the impressively diverse educational pathways on offer. Younger students follow the IB primary years and middle years programmes, or the UNESCO-backed universal learning programme. Secondary school students can study towards IGCSEs, the IB diploma programme, which was invented by the school, the IB career-related programme or the Maturité Suisse.

Beyond the classroom, the school offers a range of sporting, performing arts and cultural activities, as well as a programme tailored to elite athletes.

Academics

In 2025, the average IB score was 36.0. The school also reported an IB diploma pass rate of 97 per cent and an IB career-related programme pass rate of 100 per cent.

Head teacher

For the 2025/26 school year, Ecolint has three interim directors general: Isla Gordon, head of the Campus des Nations primary school; Jonathan Halden, head of the La Grande Boissière secondary school campus; and Soraya Sayed Hassen, head of the La Châtaigneraie secondary school campus.

University and college destinations

Graduating students continue to some of the most prestigious higher education institutions in the world, and historic placements have included UCL and Imperial College in the UK, and Stanford and Yale in the US. Many also progress to universities across mainland Europe.

Admissions

According to the school, applications can be submitted at any time for the current school year or for subsequent years. Required documents include a recent photo, proof of date of birth, copies of past and present academic reports, an essay or a recent drawing (for younger children).
