An investment director at JM Finn, Andrew Cumming manages nearly £300 million of bespoke investment portfolios on behalf of private clients. He also works closely with the firm’s wealth planning team to provide investment management services for a variety of clients, with a particular specialism in Court of Protection mandates.
‘All our clients are different and therefore have differing ambitions for their wealth,’ he says. ‘My aim is to listen to them, to ensure I understand what they’re looking to achieve and then provide them with an outstanding service that exceeds their expectations.’
His focus on accountability in wealth management goes back to his time in the forces. ‘It’s something JM Finn instils in all our investment professionals, and something I learned in my army days – an essential value when looking to deliver the best bespoke solution.’
It’s an approach that has served the amiable Cumming well. He’s taken on a ‘significant’ new family client in early 2020. ‘We are successfully restructuring their investment portfolios and repositioning their finances, with the assistance of our wealth planners, to withstand the challenges faced by the Covid-19 pandemic,’ he explains.
Cumming has also seen an upsurge of interest from clients on issues of stewardship and the special impact of investments.
‘Being a bespoke manager of assets, we are able to work with clients to create a portfolio that works for them,’ he adds.
