Landed Houses is a travel firm that allows clients to rent UK country homes directly from owners.

Most of the houses listed sleep 18 or more, but they vary in other respects. ‘Some are smart, some are ramshackle, some are vast, others cosy,’ director Edmund Cohen tells Spear’s. He also notes that guests may tailor the experience to their own needs: ‘Many owners also offer optional extras like private chefs, activity planning (think quad biking, clay pigeon shooting or pottery making) and even daily housekeeping to elevate the experience.’

The Landed Houses website invites users to enter their preferences before generating suggestions; once availability is established with the owner, bookings can be made through the site. Residences include weekend party houses, stately homes and wedding venues.
