RELATIONSHIPS ARE AT the heart of everything that Albecq does, says Stephen Le Ray, part of the senior management team. We are a relatively small team of 16 but each staff member is aware of their key role in looking after our select number of clients.

Albecq was formed over eight years ago to provide the service and consistency all clients should expect. Central to this are our staff, our ethos and our experience, as well as the direct involvement of the senior management team.

All of our staff share the same ethos – the client’s needs and wants come first. While regulation and compliance has meant administration of offshore structures has become more complex, Le Ray reaffirms that, when dealing with individuals, our role is to support and work alongside them, not merely to tick boxes and run processes.

This does at times make our role harder in the short term, but in the long run it enables us to provide consistent support and build better, longer and more fulfilling relationships. As an owner-directed business we are able take this longer-term view.

Senior management have each been involved in the industry for over 20 years, with a number of relationships dating back more than a decade. This experience and consistency of service means that when difficult decisions need to be made or when the inevitable challenges which test every relationship arise, both sides understand the other and can make decisions based on trust.

Le Ray acknowledges the practical aspects and human impact on structures and the passing of wealth between generations. Over the years he has seen a number of real-life problems and successes in dealing with the passage of wealth. All parents want what is best for their children and grandchildren and quite often this means the receipt of substantial sums.

Recognising these key points in a relationship and being able to act quickly and decisively is critical. As a small team the directors have direct involvement in all day-to-day client transactions, and therefore the ability to identify and pre-empt problems before they occur.
