Spear’s Review
Occupying a small corner site on South Audley St in Mayfair since 1979, Harry’s Bar was opened by Mark Birley, having been inspired by the Venetian restaurant of the same name.
Now owned by Richard Caring, the private members’ club continues the same tradition of simple but very fine Italian food as its namesake. Guests enjoy osso buco and tiramisu seated under framed drawings by New Yorker cartoonist Peter Arno or on the terrace under the elegant green-and-white awnings.
Discerning in its guest list, Harry’s has hosted events on behalf of Beyonce and Elton John. Suits and ties are no longer strictly required, but the club does ask that its patrons are ‘elegantly dressed’.
