In 2022, Mayfair hotel Claridge’s opened its first spa, and it has not disappointed. 

In a groundbreaking project that saw teams of experts excavate five floors of clay from underneath the hotel, a holistic sensorial space that evokes both wellness and spirituality was created. 

The spa was designed by the interior architect André Fu and has been inspired by traditional Japanese temples and zen gardens. In keeping with this theme, guests all don kimonos instead of dressing gowns; ikebana flower arrangements provide an appropriate backdrop. 

There are seven different treatment rooms, a swimming pool, sauna, steam room, large gymnasium and a hair salon run by celebrity stylist Josh Wood. 

The spa is a centre of wellness, healing rituals and expert knowledge of body restoration that amplifies emotional, physical and spiritual wellbeing.
