Simon Rowell is the creative director of Bannenberg & Rowell, a company that has forged a formidable reputation as a yacht designer. Rowell began his career in the field of hotel design, but more than 20 years ago he took a leap of faith into the unknown waters of yacht design – and never looked back.

The renowned designer once told an interviewer that the ‘three things to consider are aesthetics, practicality on board – in terms of safety and suitability for the environment – and quality’.

His designs, described by a client as ‘shockingly beautiful’, are elegant, innovative and original. He is also gradually building a niche for artisan and crafted pieces that are usually the preserve of the most daring clients.
