Luciano Giubbilei set up his own garden design business in 1997 after moving from Siena, Italy, to the UK and completing his studies at the Inchbald School of Design in London. 

He has since become one of the world’s most notable garden designers. His minimalist style, which blends the classic with the contemporary, has been applied to gardens across Europe and the United States. 

Giubbilei has won Gold and Best in Show at the Chelsea Flower Show, and his book, The Art of Making Gardens, explores several different gardens from his impressive portfolio. 

One of his more recent projects is the redevelopment of the walled gardens at Raby Castle in Durham, which includes the creation of a productive garden, a formal garden and a pleasure garden.
