Spear’s Review
A private client and trust specialist with nearly four decades of experience, Haysmacintyre director Kay Aylott provides clients with ‘expert, constructive and, above all, relevant tax advice’ based on a clear understanding of their personal circumstances and their desired goals and objectives.
‘It is important for me to understand what the client’s desired outcome is and not jump in with an immediate tax solution,’ she explains. ‘One size does not fit all, so I find myself asking new clients thought-provoking questions before any tax planning is even considered.’
Aylott is able to assist inbound individuals on UK and cross-border issues, as well as on pre-arrival planning, double tax treaty relief, offshore trusts and UK tax implications for settlors, beneficiaries and trustees.
Adviser Profile
Kay has extensive knowledge of all aspects of personal taxation and provides bespoke tax, trust, and estate planning solutions to wealthy individuals, their extended families, and trustees.
Kay works closely with her clients, helping them navigate the complexities of UK tax legislation, ensuring their tax filings are accurate, and navigating HMRC enquiries and tax planning. Kay believes it is essential to understand what clients want to achieve and their key objectives before any bespoke tax advice can be delivered. Listening to clients is essential to providing solutions that will ensure wealth preservation for future generations.
Kays advises HNW and UHNW individuals including UK-based families, non-domiciliaries, families with assets overseas, UK and overseas trusts, and UK-based entrepreneurs. Kay also works with offshore trustees, settlors, and beneficiaries to understand their UK tax exposure and reporting requirements. Her particular focus is estate and succession planning for clients, which includes inheritance tax planning with trusts and family investment companies, will planning, and probate advice. Kay also assists clients in navigating the tax impact of divorce and has experience in preparing Expert Witness reports in relation to the taxation of assets transferred between spouses.
Kay works closely with her clients, their family office, and their other professional advisors to ensure a joined-up approach to tax, legal, and financial advice is maintained, and excellent client service is delivered across all services.
Kay has advised clients across several sectors, including sports and entertainment, private equity, farming and land management, and national heritage property.
Kay is a Fellow of the Association of Taxation Technicians and a Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners member.
