Jonathan Harington has been a buying agent since 1986 and single-handedly created the purchasing arms of both Lane Fox (now Strutt & Parker) and Knight Frank. So if anyone can weather a crisis, it’s him. 

‘It’s a bonkers business,’ he told Spear’s when asked about the challenges he’s faced in his career. ‘You have to get in front of the right people, convince them that we’re the best people to do it, and then of course you’ve got to find the property – there’s a whole list of things that can go wrong.'

His firm, Haringtons, only retains a small number of domestic and overseas clients at one time – always on an exclusive basis.
