Spear’s Review

‘The team you assemble is vital to the success of the project,’ says architect and SHH co-founder Graham Harris. ‘Historical threads and footprints will also greatly inform and enforce your concepts when making client presentations.’

Commissions for SHH include a 1970s Grade II-listed house in Highgate, which included restoring the ‘listed cork-lined walls in a Formica kitchen’. The firm also secured planning permission to restore the 30,000sq ft Hampstead property Athlone House to its former glory. The firm offers a range of services, from planning permissions consultation to full-service architecture and interior design, specialising in historic buildings with difficult conservation needs.

Harris, who draws inspiration from legendary American architect John Lautner, is seeing international growth, especially in Asian clients, but retains his British style.
