Spear’s Review
David Kohn Architects was founded in 2007 by Cambridge graduate David Kohn. Based in London, his projects often follow competitive tenders.
At New College, Oxford, the firm is designing a new quad, as well as student accommodation and facilities for the adjacent New College School, as part of a £50 million project. A refurbishment of the Institute of Contemporary Arts, meanwhile, entailed bringing the podium of Carlton House Terrace into the 21st century. And the Photography Centre at the Victoria & Albert Museum was the practice’s largest museum project when it opened in 2018.
Awards include Young Architect of the Year in 2009; One-Off House Architect of the Year 2010; RIBA, D&AD Designs and Condé Nast awards in 2012 for a Room for London; and World Interior of the Year in 2013. More recently, its Red House in Dorset was named RIBA House of the Year 2022.
