The venerable David Hodson KC founded the International Family Law Group in 2007, when ‘nobody in their right mind would set up a law firm’.

Hodson announced his departure from the firm in March 2025, yet his pioneering legacy still continues. ‘We take pride in being ahead of the game,’ Hodson says. The family law firm’s foray into remote working proved to be ahead of its time, and it was among the first firms in the UK to deploy AI technology to enhance the way clients interact with lawyers.

Hodson is renowned in legal circles and has picked up numerous accolades and honours over the course of his career. In March 2022, Hodson was appointed King's Counsel and serves as honorary professor at the University of Leicester and as visiting professor at the University of Law. Hodson was named on the Queen's Birthday Honours list in 2014 and received an OBE.

In 2025, he stepped away from the firm and now operates as an independent consultant.
