Chris Boon joined Close Brothers in 1999, helping to establish the asset manager’s presence among HNW clients. He was chief executive of the bespoke HNW team from 2000 to 2007 and is now a managing director of wealth management.

As Close Brothers recruits new investment officers, opens new offices and enlarges its client base organically, Boon is optimistic about the trajectory of the firm. But there are things he’d like to change about the wider industry, he tells Spear’s.

‘An increasing number of firms are momentum-driven in their style and adopt a performance horizon measured in months, in contrast to the vast majority of private individuals who view their wealth over years and expect us to invest for them accordingly,’ he says.
