‘We’re in the business of happiness,’ Daisy Amodio tells Spear’s.

Her company began life under the name The Proposers, reflecting its original focus on proposal planning. ‘I’d googled “proposal planner” and nothing came up,’ she says. ‘When I started, everyone told me it was a terrible idea. Now, 14 years later, we’ve done hundreds of proposals and had two TV shows.’

The ascent was gradual, Amodio explains. Early clients were prepared to spend around £500 on a proposal; today the firm occupies a niche serving clients who typically spend anywhere from £300,000 to £1 million.

Now rebranded as Daisy Amodio Events, the firm also plans weddings, most recently for the Prince of Brunei. Budgets of that size come with a willingness to make almost anything happen. ‘We had one client who wanted his face beamed onto the Eiffel Tower, but you’re not allowed to do that,’ she recalls. ‘But we came back to him with a solution – because what you can do is beam your face onto the castle at Disneyland Paris.’ A hard proposal to say no to.
