Mark Keeley

Spear’s Review

Based in Nottingham, Mark Keeley joined Freeths in 1994 as a trainee. Now, over three decades later, he leads the firm’s private client dispute resolution team.

The partner specialises in contentious trust and probate matters, including will challenges, Inheritance Act claims, Court of Protection issues and trustee disputes.  A significant area of his practice involves agricultural and farming disputes, often arising from failed succession planning or partnership disagreements.

Despite his acumen in court, reflected by a number of reported high-profile cases, Keeley is best known as a mediator. Since qualifying in 2010, he has undertaken more than 700 mediations – for his own clients and on a number of occasions by appointment of other solicitors.

‘I think mediation can help nearly every case,’ he tells Spear’s. ‘For clients it can be a bit of a raw process, but the relief you get when you reach a settlement is palpable.’
