For Venetia Martin, luxury travel no longer centres around sumptuous resorts and private planes – it is about creating educational and enriching journeys for individuals who wish to truly understand the world.

‘We really want to engage people with the work of conservationists so they feel more hopeful about the planet, and also give them the tools to be able to make some change in their own ecosystem,’ she tells Spear’s.

As managing director of Journeys With Purpose, Martin has arranged a variety of trips that balance luxury with preservation, scientific and ecological work. The travel adviser notes that one journey she was particularly proud to have worked on was in partnership with the NGO Daughters for Earth.

‘We connected female philanthropists and their daughters to women-led conservation projects across Kenya,’ she said. ‘We walked with them, talked with them and understood the greatest challenges they were facing.’
