Hedge fund managers and senior executives from Apple, Google and DeepMind – not to mention members of the landed gentry – feature among Will Thomas's clients. As head of residential property at Greenwoods Legal, the lawyer has been instructed in transactions involving London's most sought-after addresses, including a nearly £10 million sale in Belgravia.

Thomas splits his time between the firm's London and Cambridge offices. When advising clients, he says, he takes a personal and direct approach. He explains that lawyers at Greenwoods do not hide behind secretaries or receptionists; every client has immediate access whenever needed.

His practice, he adds, is deliberately low volume but uncompromisingly high quality. The approach has paid off: the firm's residential property team has quadrupled its profitability in recent years, all while maintaining a highly bespoke service.
