Sophie Paterson’s favourite interior design projects are those that are all-encompassing.

‘We prefer to work on comprehensive projects so that we can influence the architectural design, and get the desired look that the client wants,’ she tells Spear’s.

The London- and Surrey-based practice specialises in luxury residential interiors – whether it is refining architectural details in heritage properties or picking out decorations and styling furniture in far-flung villas.

Nearly all of Paterson’s clients are international, and she notes that homeowners from the UAE and Saudi Arabia are particularly drawn to her aesthetic: a muted, refined sleekness that is seemingly effortless.

Paterson adds that she enjoys getting stuck into the design process with her clients. ‘I go through every single room in their home, get a feeling of their daily routine, and get them to give me a massive brain dump,’ she says.
