Spear’s Review

Penny Lovell was appointed CEO of UK private banking at Edmond de Rothschild in early 2025. At the same time, the Swiss bank announced it had increased its stake in London-based Hottinger Group to 70 per cent – a clear signal of its plans to expand its presence in the UK.

With a 20-year career in wealth management that includes senior roles at Coutts, Stonehage Fleming and Citi, Lovell will be responsible for guiding UHNWs through complex financial, business and estate planning decisions. She will also lead Hottinger’s senior management and existing teams in the UK.

In a 2017 interview, Lovell told Spear’s that she was first inspired to join the financial services industry by her mother, who had ‘a passion for the stock market and the city that would have rivalled Mark Carney’s’.
