Spear’s Review

EFG Private Bank is just another arrow in the quiver for serial banking executive Christian Berchem.

Berchem joined EFG in 2023 as head of the Swiss bank’s UK offering, and is a member of EFG International’s global business committee. He was previously UK private banking CEO at Credit Suisse, but departed the firm after its acquisition by UBS. He has also held roles at BarclaysJP Morgan and Morgan Stanley, as well as Merrill Lynch and KPMG.

Berchem has spoken of his ambition to grow EFG Private Bank’s business in the UK by increasing hiring of top talent, and – like many competitors in the private banking space – developing its private market capabilities.

EFG International, the parent company of the private bank, had total assets under management of CHF 162.3 billion as of June 2025.
